Najim Arshad

Born on 8^th June, 1986 to parents Thirumala Shahul and Rehma in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Najim Arshad is a famous Indian playback singer working in Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil film industries. His father is a retired administrative officer from Vigilance Department while his mother is a music teacher. He has two brothers one is a doctor, and the other is an engineer. He feels proud to say that both of them are musicians too. He has been undergoing training in Carnatic music vocal under Gurunathan Sri H. Raja in S.S.T College of Music since 1995 and in violin by Sri Rathinam and Sri Kadanad Haridas.

Najim rose to fame after winning the 2^nd season of Idea Star Singer 2007. He debuted as a playback singer in 2007 in Mission 90 Days which is a Malayalam film. He is known for his collaboration with all music composers in Malayalam film industry. As a music lover, Najim is committed to music and is highly obliged to his parents, teachers and others for their support and blessings. He received awards from Mangalam Publications film awards for the best male singer, EFA Award for the voice of the year in 2015 and the best singer by Kerala film critics association in 2013. He, however, says that awards do not help in career growth, but experience does. Najim received enormous appreciation after his performance in the 10^th season of Amrita Film Awards which is a prestigious film award of Malayalam cinema on 20^th December, 2014.
