Gopala Kurup Sudhakaran, an Indian politician and author, was born on 1 November 1950 at Vedaraplavu Thamarakkulam Village, in Mavelikkara, India. He is a member of the Communist Party of India and also the former Minister for Public Works in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Sudhakaran’s father’s name was P. Gopala Kurup, and his mother was L. Pankajakshi Amma. He completed his graduation with a Bachelor of Laws degree, followed by a degree in Master of Arts.
He was an active politician when he was a student. He became a member of CPI in 1967 and was the founding member, All India Vice-President, and General Secretary of S.F.I. Sudhakaran is highly praised for his development work in Kerala through the Public Works Department. He served as the Ambalapuzha MLA for ten years. He was elected president of the Union of Kerala Spinners Limited (C.I.T.U) and the Alappuzha District Committee. In 1996 and 2006, he was elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly. He is also an author, and some of his published books are Aaranu née Obama (Collection of Poems), Unni Makane Manohara (Collection of Poems), and Sannithanathile Kazhuthakal (Collection of Poems).
