Sanjana Dipu

Malayalam actor Sanjana Dipu is the one who has wowed the audience with her brilliant acting in Moothan as a 14-year-old teenager Mulla. Sanjana Dipu was born on 9th December 2000 to Dipu Santhan and Kalpana Dipu in Kerala. She also has a brother, Srideep Dipu. Indian cricketer Sreesanth is her uncle. The actress attended Global Public School in Kochi, Kerala. Apart from excelling in studies, Sanjana Dipu also shined in extracurricular activities like dancing and singing. Sanjana Dipu further attended Kristu Jayanti College in Bangalore and specialized in triple major degrees in Psychology, Journalism, and Computer Science.

Being a hardcore cinephile, Sanjana Dipu always wanted to see herself on screen. She once acted in a cricket advertisement, but, unfortunately the commercial never saw the light. Director Geetu Mohandas spotted Sanjana Dipu during her senior secondary school days. Following the meeting, they called Sanjana over for the auditions of the role Mulla in Moothan. After few rounds of auditions, Sanjana Dipu got picked up to play the character Mulla in the film. Having no prior acting experience, Sanjana had to go through workshops to get ready as Mulla. From an 18-year-old girl to a 14-year-old boy, the transition of Sanjana Dipu to Mulla required loss of weight, going short hair, and more. The film follows Mulla, played by Sanjana Dipu, who searchs his brother Akbar to Mumbai. The movie released in 2019, opened to a great review, and got critically acclaimed. They screened Moothon in many film festivals including Toronto International Film Festival, Mumbai Film Festival, and more. The audience received Sanjana Dipu’s performance as Mulla well and she received high appreciations. For her terrific performance in Moothon, Sanjana Dipu received the award for a Best child actor in the International New York Film Festival and Indian Film Festival of Cincinnati. Post-Moothon, Sanjana Dipu is looking for exciting projects.
