Sruthy was born in Viakom, Kerala as Praveen. She is an Indian transgender beauty pageant winner. Sithara never knew about the trans community until her class 12. She has studied B.Com at St. Alberts College, Ernakulam, Kerala. During her childhood, she experienced gender dysphoria and transphobia and despite that, she always embraced her identity. She is a model, actress and LGBTQ+ rights activist. After her studies, she started working at a corporate firm. Gradually she became aware of her identity. Two of her friends helped her to talk about it with her family. Sithara was one of the four transgender people working under the Govt. of Kerala in their Social Justice Department. In 2017 she was the first runner-up in the Miss Chamayam competition. In 2018, Sithara started her career in Modelling. The very same year, she got interviewed by the Deccan Chronicle.
She told Deccan Chronicle she wanted to become India’s first transgender IAS officer. Sithara won the second edition of Kerala’s first beauty pageant for trans women, Queen of Dhwayah 2018. In 2021, she participated in the Miss Trans Global beauty pageant, where she represented India and fortunately won the crown. She has founded an online LGBTQ+ advocacy campaign named Kaleidoscope. She is also the founder of Rise Up Forum, which focuses on societal and environmental issues. Sithara started working in the Malayalam film industry in 2020. Her father’s name is Pavithran, and her mother passed away in 2015. She has a brother who is married. Sruthy met Daya Gayathri, who helped her through her bad days. Eventually, they fell in love and became the first trans couple to be talked about publicly.
