Born on the 18th of July, 1978 in the Kanhangad district of Kerala, Vyshakh is neither among the old generation of directors and nor among the new generation battalion making movies solely with say, Fahadh Fazil or Dulquer Salman. Vyshakh on the other hand, belongs somewhere midway, bridging this link. This bridging of the generation gap is clearly visible in his directorial debut ‘

in lead roles, and nothing portrays better the combination of two generations or rather entirely two mindsets in his movies. It turned out to be the largest grosser in the Malayalam movie industry in 2010. It dealt with the story of two brothers, one of whom is an underworld don and how he helps his younger brother fight for his lobe interest who is played by
. ‘Seniors’, which released in 2011 starring Manoj K Jayan, Jayaram,
, came next. This one too was a great commercial success and garnered great reviews. Set in a comical and hilarious setting it dealt with a murder mystery and how a group of four friends return after a long gap to their college to figure out who among them is the actual murderer after one of them was wrongly charged with the crime long back.
The thrilling suspense was appreciated. His third film ‘Mallu Singh’ (2012) that starred Kunchacko Boban again and
in the lead roles was a masala entertainer. Manoj K Jayan starred again in this project along with Biju Menon and together, with their great comic timings, they added to the humour in this laugh riot. This one too was a success. ‘
’ starring Dileep followed. It dealt with the story of a cleft -lipped guy and was received well for its great humour. It released in the year 2013. Next came up his movie titled ‘Vishudhan’ for which he also wrote the screenplay. A lot of critics have called this his best work. It starred Kunchacko Boban and Miya in leading roles and narrated the story of a church’s father and a nun. Times of India gave it a three on five rating. It dealt with complex issues of morality and sin. His movie ‘
’ came up in 2014. It starred Kunchacko Boban, Indrajit Sukumaran,
and Josu George. It was an average hit due to its high budget. It was not well received by the critics. His upcoming project stars Mohanlal in the titular role and is titled ‘
’. It is much awaited especially due to its intriguing poster, the faith in his direction and not so surprisingly Mohanlal.
