An assistant director is someone who handles the directorial work allotted by the lead director. He/ she are responsible for handling all the logistics and to keep a check on all other onset departments. Assistant directors need to work in coordination with other departments and let the director about meetings and any last minute changes. They are also second in command in case the director is unavailable on set for any decisions. There can be multiple assistant directors for a film depending on the budget and how large scale the film is.
An Assistant Director helps the director by proving suggestions on the direction of scenes and even helps in the production process. Assistant directors move on to become directors and producers in the future.
