Santhosh Raman is an Indian Art Director predominantly working in South Indian Film Industry. He primarily works on Malayalam and Tamil films. His famous works are Take Off (2017), Njaan (2014) and Aayan Njanalla (2015). Santhosh was born in Thalassery, a rural area of Kannur in India. Santhosh was passionate about films from childhood. He used to bunk classes and went to watch films with his friends in local cinema halls. He was talented in the art and drawing. That is why the art direction aspect of the films inspired him. After completing 12th from his village school, he attended Govt. College of Fine Arts in Thrissur and completed graduation in the field of Applied Arts.

Then he made his portfolio and tried to pursue his career in Malayalam film industry. After working in various ads and short films, Santhosh finally met director Shyamaprasad. Shyamaprasad offered him the assistant director of photography post for his film Akale. Next year he became an independent art director and made his debut with 2006 film Aanachandam, directed by Jayaraj. Critics praised him for his fresh looks applied in the film. In 2007, he worked in the film Novel, directed by East Coast Vijayan. Santhosh directed the art section in Aanathe Chinthavishayam and Chembada, both released in 2008.

After drawing a blank in 2009, he returned in 2010 with critically acclaimed Plus Two (2010). Critics applauded his work. Santhosh became famous and started being an art director in various hit films in Malayalam. Some of them include Violet, Vezikullathe Vazi, Lavender, Indian Rupee and Aakasathinde Niram. Santhosh continued his dream run in 2014 hit Njaan and 2015 blockbuster Aayan Njanalla. He earned recognition from various critics for his exquisite work in those films. He is famous for his collaboration with Malayalam director Ranjith. Santhosh featured in Ranjith’s every film including Spirit (2012), Loham (2015), Leela (2016) and Kadaal Kadannu Oru Mathuikkut (2013).

In the latter half of 2016, he involved with the smash hit Kasaba. In 2017, Santhosh broke the ground in the Malayalam film industry with his work in 2017 thriller film Take 0ff. His art direction made the spectators believe that the film was in Iraq, but actually he created the scenes of Iraq in his studios. Critics became overwhelmed with his talent and execution of art direction in the film. His release Puthan Panam with Ranjith also made waves. Santhosh is married, and his spouse’s name is Babitha Babitha. Currently, both of them live in Calicut in Kerala.

Jothish Shankar

Jothish Shankar is a South Indian art director who works in the Malayalam film industry. He is known for his work in several Malayalam feature films like Valliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti and Kaadu Pookkunna Neram. He has worked with directors like Salim Ahmad, Dr. Biju, Anil Radhakrishnan Menon and Sunil Ibrahim. Jothish hails from Alappuzha in Kerala. He currently lives in Ernakulam in Kochi in Kerala. He joined the Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts in Mavelikkara in Kerala on 7th June 1995 from where he graduated on 10th June 2001. Filmmakers and critics first noticed Jothish for his work as an Art Director in the film Adaminte Makan Abu co-produced, directed and written by Salim Ahmad. The film hit the screens on 24th June 2011. It received several awards and accolades. He also worked in many of Salim Ahmed’s movies like Kunjananthante Kada in 2013 and Pathemari in 2015. Jothish received praise from superstar Mammoothy and director Madhu Ambat for creating an entire movie for the movie Kunjananthante Kada. He won the Best Art Director Award at the Ramu Kariat Film Awards in 2015 for the historical period drama film Pathemari. It took him one year to complete his project for Pathemari. The movie received several awards and accolades. Jothish worked in the Malayalam film Chapters written and directed by Sunil Ibrahim. The film hit the screens on 7th December 2012. He also worked in Sunil Ibrahim’s Arikil Oraal which hit the silver screens on 30th August 2013. Jothish worked in the movie North 24 Kaatham written and directed by Anil Radhakrishnan Menon. The film hit the screens on 15th September 2013. He also worked in other movies by Radhakrishnan like Sapthama Shree Thaskara in 2014 and Lord Livingston 7000 Kandi in 2015. He received accolades for creating a tribal village seventy feet from the ground, atop the trees of the Idduki Forest for Lord Livingston 7000 Kandi. Jothish also worked in Malayalam movies like Ee Adutha Kaalathu in 2012, Out Sider in 2012, Matinee in 2012, SIM (Sorry I am Mad) in 2013, Oliporru in 2013, Thomsun Villa in 2014, Law Point in 2014, Pakida in 2014, Veyilum Mazhayum in 2014, Munnariyippu in 2014, D 31th in 2016, Town To Town in 2016, Pa Va in 2016, Velliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti in 2016, Kochuva Paulo Ayappa Coelo in 2016, Kaadu Pokkuna Neru in 2017 and Aradi in 2017. Jothish’s latest work as an Art Director is in the Malayalam drama movie Poomaram co-produced, written and directed by Abrid Shine. The film was set to release in February 2017 but was delayed.
