East Coast Vijayan

East Coast Vijayan, born Karikkattil Vasudevan Pillai Surendran Pillai is a renowned Malayalam film producer/director/lyricist/screenplay/dialogue writer. Vijayan was born on 1955, to Devaki Amma and Vasudevan Pillai in the Anchal town of Kerala.  Vijayan went to St John’s College, Anchal from where he graduated with a degree in mathematics and went to Kerala University. Vijayan also spent a good number of years in Dubai where he assisted his brother’s business ventures.

Since his college days, East Coast Vijayan has been interested in writing poems which helped him to write many music albums including Ninakkai, which was released in 1998 and was sung by Biju Narayanan Biju Narayanan is a well-known Malayalam playback >> Read More... . In the year 1999, Vijayan wrote his second album in the Ninakkai series named Aadhyamai. Apart from this, Vijayan has written many more songs like Ormakkai Iniyoru Snehageetham, Enthinennariyilla, Onninumallaathe, Poovu Chodichu, Ithramel Enne, and many others.

In 2008, Vijayan directed and produced his first film Novel, which cast Jayaram. P.V. Sethunath and Sada Priyanandini. Vijayan’s vision and creativity have truly brought out the best in his films such as My Boss, Jilebi, Mohabbat, Kallanum Bhagavathiyum, Chila New Gen Nattu Visheshangal, and many more. Because of his hard work and dedication East Coast Vijayan won the Kerala Films Critics Award for Best Music Album Director, in 2003.
