Pratibha Nandakumar

 Prathibha Nandakumar is a well established Poet, Journalist, Author, and Film Maker. She has done predominant work in Kannada literature and also in Sandalwood. She has successfully directed feature films and is well known for her ways with words. She is a very creative person and has gotten multiple of her poem, stories, and articles published for the public and has received many awards for the same.

Pratibha successfully directed her first feature film ‘Snake Kannada’. This movie is a Romantic comedy that featured Yogesh and Sihi Kahi Hita in leads. ‘Snake Naga’ is a Kannada movie, and the reviews it got were positive. ​Prathibha is very well established in the field of literature. Some of her very famous publications are fourteen collections of poems in Kannada, Anudinada Antharagange-Autobiography in Kannada, Two collections of short stories in Kannada, three memoirs of artists B Saroja Devi, SK Padmadevi, Srinath. She also wrote short fiction stories like Yaana, Surya Prakashana, Bangalore (1997) and so much more. ​Some of her renowned work in English is, ‘Culture for Peace’, Collecter poems, twenty-one poems. She also translated an Anand Neelakantan Novel to Kannada and wrote 10,000+ pages of articles in newspapers.   

She has received various awards for her work. Some of the notable and prestigious ones are, Muddana Kavya Prashasthi(1996), Mahavdev Verma kavya Samman(2003), PU THI NA kavya Prshasthi(2000), Bangalore Literary festival award(2016), Sahitya Parishat(2017), Infosys Foundation Award (2016), Karnataka State Sahitya Academy Prashasthi(2000), Dr. Shivarama Karanantha Prashasthi(1999), Gowrish Kalikini Sahitay Prashasthi (2005), Dr.Anpama Niranjana Award(2012) and many more such. Pratibha’s other works include, biographies of women, essays, short fiction, etc. She is currently the Director of Surya Creative Services, which is a media service agency, and a culture foundation called ‘Kriya Foundation’.
