Om Prakash Rao is a known face in Sandalwood, thanks to his stint with direction, production, screenplay writing and acting. He has 25 movies to his credit now as a director. He is mainly famous for his action films with gripping screenplay and restrained romance. Katte, AK 56, Prince, Chandralekha, Shiva  and Electron are some of his latest ventures as a director. He made heads turn with films like Fair & Lovely, Gundu, and Dhool in which he worked as an actor.  Lockup Death and AK 47 is a couple of his megahits in Sandalwood as a director.

Huccha can be considered as Rao’s excellent endeavor as a director. For this film he was nominated as Best Director in Filmfare Award. Rao also was involved in several controversies.

Rao is active in Sandalwood for over 38 years and he has witnessed success as well as failure. He is wise enough to take both with equanimity. Once he has expressed that the media can write what they feel like unless and until it’s the truth. He also said that if he committed a mistake he won’t shy away from correcting it. He lets go the controversies that are written about him.

Rao had interest towards Sandalwood since childhood and his father, who was a dialogue writer and comedian, also seconded his son’s inclination. Rao had associated with several directors before taking up directing by himself. Subramani, one of his sons, is also interested in such things, as Rao confesses.

Now Om Prakash Rao has entered the Big Boss 4 scene, perhaps as a guest or a new contestant.
