Many are unaware that his mother, apart from being a playback singer in the industry, has written and directed several films as well. His elder brother is the famous Bollywood director Aditya Chopra, married to the talented actress Rani Mukerji.

Grapevine has it that he was in an on and off relationship with the Rockstar fame, Nargis Fakri. Reports suggested that the duo were soon supposed to get hitched. Uday called it off at the last hour, just when the happy and excited Nargis was about to declare about her fairytale wedding. This put her in shock and she left for New York overnight. Uday hit the headlines for all his personal reasons. However, one of Uday's interviews hinted that all is well between him and Nargis.

Uday Chopra initially kick started his career as an assistant director on a number of movies under the Yash Raj Films banner. He was only 16 when he started working for the movie Lamhe in the year 1991.

Uday Chopra is the owner-manager (CEO) of YRF Entertainment. He is also the manager of Yash Raj Films with his mother Pamela Chopra. This company is owned by the esteemed Aditya Chopra. Soon in July 2012, Uday founded his own company called Yomics. Uday made his debut in acting in Mohabbatein in the year 2000. He was nominated for FILMFARE BEST MALE DEBUT AWARD for the same. He has acted in a string of movies including the famous Dhoom Trilogy (2004, 2006, 2013 respectively), Neal ‘n’ Nikki (2005), Mujhse Shaadi Karoge! (2003), etc.

He was associated as an assistant director in the movie much accounted for : Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Darr (1993), Dil to Pagal Hai (1997), Lamhe (1991), Hum Tum (2004) and many more. He has been the screenwriter for Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl (2011) and Pyaar Impossible (2010). In 2004 he produced movies like The Longest Week and Grace of Monaco. Currently Uday has taken up a course related to film making in University of California (UCLA), Los Angeles.
