Born on 18 October 1975 in New Orleans in Louisiana, Nic Pizzolatto is of Italian descent who is an American writer, producer, and director. He is best known for curating the HBO crime drama series “True Detective.” He had a financially poor childhood, so he moved to live in rural areas. In 1993, he graduated from St. Catholic high school and left home when 17. He completed his bachelor’s from Louisiana State University in English and Philosophy with a Visual art scholarship. In 2010, his first novel, “Galveston,” was published by Scribner’s, for which the French academy awarded him for “best first novel.”
His novel got published in France, Germany, Hong Kong, and Italy. Before “true detective,” he was a professor of English at DePauw University from 2008-12 and taught literature at other universities. He has worked/written four films, two television series, published his twelve writings and has been awarded eight times. In one of his interviews, he claimed that if you want to be a writer, you have to stop being a personal assistant. In his 20s, he worked as a bartender and a technical writer because his mentor passed away.
