Jerome Dobson joined his wife in the field of writing in the 1970s, right after her project for General Hospital began. Jerome Dobson and his wife were hired for the soap opera Guiding Light run by CBS. As the head authors of that Guiding Light, they created a few of the characters that became popular amongst all. The famous show Procter and Gamble and as a couple also wrote the World Turns as being its head writers. NBC debuted Santa Barbara, where Jerome Dobson was the creative head of the show and tried firing the head author repeatedly, thus getting thrown out of the NBC office.
With this dispute going on, the couple filed a case of $53 million against NBC and New World Television. All this happened in the year 1988 and was settled in 1991. After the lawsuit was settled, Jerome Dobson and his wife returned to Santa Barbara. Dobson then moved to Atlanta in 1995, where his wife started her painting career and became quite popular as her work was showcased in a solo traveling museum. In 1976 and 1978, the Dobsons were up for nomination in Best Writing for Guiding Light in the Daytime Emmy Awards and also in 1987 in the same category for Santa Barbara. They had a great achievement by winning the Writers Guild of America Award in 1980 and 1992 for Guiding Light and Santa Barbara. Jerome Dobson, with his wife Bridget Dobson, stepped into the American writing industry like no one but stepped out of it, achieving heights and getting their name known.
