Dev Ross is a screenwriter, children's book author, director, performer, and producer from the United States. She worked in the films, theater, and television industries. Ross has written for ABC, Disney, FOX KIDS, Universal Cartoon Studios, TLC, Cartoon Network, The Discovery Channel, Nickelodeon, Mattel, the Web, and PBS, among other networks. She contributed to the text, animation, and theater. Ross began her career as a narrative analyst for film production businesses. Earlier, she joined Disney Studios as a staff writer in 1991. She also worked as a voice director and "story doctor." Ross taught university classes in digital screenwriting. She worked at the graduate and undergraduate levels for the “Samsung Corporation” in South Korea in 2007.
Ross contributed to several successful television shows in the 1990s. Her best works include “Darkwing Duck”, “Winnie the Pooh” and “Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers”, “Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks”, “Monster High”, “Animated Classic Showcase”, “Return of Jafar”, “Clifford's Puppy Days”, the “Adventures from the Book of Virtues”, and “Clifford the Big Red Dog." Ross brought cinematic characters to television with "Aladdin” and “The Little Mermaid." Ross contributed to the famous "We Both Read" series with various children's books. She also authored successful books like “Wild Animals of the United States (2009), Frank and the Balloon (2008), Fox's Best Trick Ever, Treasure Bay (2006).”
Ross received awards for her excellent writing works. Her rewards include “Action in Children’s Television (ACT), Annie (20th May 1994), Daytime Ammy (22nd May 1993), and Humanitas (19th February 2002).” Dev Ross is an award-winning scriptwriter and author of children's books. She has been writing for adults and children for over thirty years. Dev has also written several children's novels for the famous "We Both Read" series. She was the Artistic Director of the Emmy Award-winning “Twelfth Night Repertory Company,” a tri-city educational theater and award-winning television troupe. She wrote, directed, and performed before turning to animation. Dev taught digital screenwriting at graduate and undergraduate levels in South Korean universities.
In Seoul, she also worked at the “Samsung Corporation." Dev was the creator and chief writer of her original online program, "The Rocks," since 2012. “The Rocks” is a distinct supernatural dramedy. Dev Ross began her acting career after graduating from college. Later, she was hired by “Echo Theater Company.” They did children's theater. It immediately turned Ross off. Viola Spolin was a huge hero of hers. She put her newfound knowledge to use at the theater company. They went from a four-person touring company in three locations to touring across the United States. They even had their television show. “Universal Cartoon Studios” requested Dev Ross’s services. Ross starred in her first direct-to-video film.
The movie was a tremendous hit and received the prestigious “Humanitas Award” (the Academy Awards for writers). Debra Walley, her husband's spouse, passed away. She was a well-known actress in the 1960s and 1970s. She worked in famous films such as “Gidget Goes Hawaiian”, “Beach Blanket Bingo” and others. Debra encouraged Ross to visit her in Sedona. Sedona captivated Ross. She felt her work was getting too generic. So, she came to Disney to write a play. She had to commute to Disney five days a week, and it was a nightmare. She had to decide whether or not to return to Los Angeles permanently. She sometimes wishes to beat herself. But, She has a better quality of life than she anticipated.
