Natalie Schafer was born on 5th November 1900 in New Jersey. She was a Hollywood actress born in America who has featured in movies and television plays. She was in the television industry for more than 50 years, which made her one of the most popular television actresses. She was born to Jennie Friedlander and Charles Emanual Schafer as the firstborn of German Jewish parents. Charles Schafer and Hazel Schafer are her siblings. From 1933 to 1942, Schafer was married to Louis Calhern, an American theatre artist. Natalie and Louis do not have children. From childhood, Natalie was inclined towards acting. She started acting in short Broadway theatre plays. Considering her look and how she dressed, Natalie played the character of a fashion diva, a lady of society. She started initially as a TV actress, an aspect that marked the beginning of her acting career.
Natalie was most famous for her 1964 show Gilligan’s Island, where her character was the wife of a millionaire, Eunice Lovely. Although she left the show, she sometimes appeared in guest roles in spin-offs and movies because the audience enjoyed her part in the show. The period from the 1950 to the 1970s was the golden period for Natalie as she received many offers for guest appearances in some of the most successful TV shows and films. Several other television appearances that Natalie Schafer featured include Mayberry RFD, Sherlock Holmes, I Love Lucy, and The Beverly Hillbillies. Natalie was a known breast cancer survivor. This was not disclosed to her friends, family, and the media. She later underwent a double mastectomy to cure her breast cancer. Her final performance was for the 1990 horror film, I’m Dangerous Tonight. On 10th April 1991 she breathed her last and passed away due to liver cancer.
