He went to Brown University for his graduation in Fine Arts. Later he studied in a Graduate Acting Program at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He entered the acting space with his role in the movie Quiz Show (1994). This was followed by cameo appearances in the drama series Law & Order. He was an active theatre enthusiast since his days in college played Louis Ironson in the play Angels in America at San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre. While pursuing theatre he also featured in some movies in small roles including Jesus’s Son (1999), The Siege (1998), Requiem for a Dream (2000), and Eraser (1996).
He was nominated for a Tony Award in 2001 for his portrayal in Proof at Manhattan Theatre Club. His filmography includes Breakfast with Scot (2008), Solitary Man (2009), Just Like Heaven (2005), Then She Found Me (2008), and Must Love Dogs (2005).
