Her father Peter Thomason was active in politics while her mother Phyllis was an employee in an electronics company based in Jamaica. She started to participate in theater productions from a very early age of 13 years and has been an active member of Oldham Theater Workshop.
She completed her early education in hometown Manchester. She possesses a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Manchester Metropolitan University. Her like for theater successfully transformed into a professional job when she landed her first gig at the age of 14 and starred in BBC1's children magazine program The 8:15 from Manchester.
