Her father Peter Thomason was active in politics while her mother Phyllis was an employee in an electronics company based in Jamaica. She started to participate in theater productions from a very early age of 13 years and has been an active member of Oldham Theater Workshop.
She completed her early education in hometown Manchester. She possesses a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Manchester Metropolitan University. Her like for theater successfully transformed into a professional job when she landed her first gig at the age of 14 and starred in BBC1's children magazine program The 8:15 from Manchester. She appeared in a minor role in TV series Prime Suspect before getting her big break in the crime drama Pie in the Sky. She continued to appear in various TV series in guest appearances along with substantial roles in Playing the Field and Where the Heart Is.
Soon she came to Hollywood to try her luck and was part of ensemble casts in various hit shows which include being a casino agent in Las Vegas, Naomi Dorrit in Lost, sports agent MJ Martin in Make It or Break It, robust and powerful FBI Agent in White Collar and Katy Carmichael in Safe House. She also gave her voice to the fictional character Diana Burnwood in Hitman Absolution, the fifth title in the game series Hitman. She is married to lighting technician Craig Sykes and gave birth to their daughter Tallulah Anais on June 12, 2013. She is a passionate football fan and supports her home club Manchester City.
