Lillard, Darien Lamonte Ollie (Sr.), is a professional basketball player from Portland, Oregon for the Portland Trail Blazers, part of the National Basketball Association (NBA). In 2012, he was selected with the sixth overall pick in the NBA draft by Portland and went on to earn his first All-American honors for the Weber State Wildcats. After being drafted by Portland, he had been unanimously voted as the NBA Rookie of the Year. Lillard, nicknamed "Dame Time" for his history of making big shots in clutch situations, has been selected to six NBA All-Star Games, making him one of two players in Trail Blazers history to make it to a six-time All-Star game, along with Clyde Drexler. He was named one of the league's greatest players of all time in October 2021 and made it to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
In 1978–79, Lillard became the first NBA rookie to record 35 points, nine assists and zero turnovers in a game since turnovers became a stat in 1978–79. He won the Skills Challenge at All-Star Weekend, allowing him to win the Rising Stars Challenge, which he participated in during All-Star Weekend. During his 28 minutes on March 8, he scored 18 points, three rebounds, and five assists, finishing with a game-high 28 minutes. In the Rising Stars Challenge, Lillard A season-high 38 points were scored by Lillard on April 10 against the Lakers.[13] He won Rookie of the Month honors every month for the Western Conference and became one of just eight players in the NBA to sweep it since the award's inception in 1981–82. He also placed fifth in 3-pointers made and tied for 16th in assists per game and tied for 23rd in free throw percentage. His 1,500 points made him one of 10 NBA players to reach that landmark. He was the top rookie in scoring, assists, field goals, and free throws.
