David Lancaster is an American film producer and assistant director, who entered the entertainment industry during the 80s. He has been involved in the production and distribution of several motion pictures, major stage plays, and TV series. From 2006 to March 2014, he has worked as the acting co-president of the independent film production, Bold Films, and subsequently launched his independent production company called, Rumble Films. It has nearly forty independent films and TV shows to his name, including A Message from the King (2016), Eye in the Sky (2015), Whiplash (2014), Nightcrawler (2014), Drive (2011) and much more.
Whiplash received nominations at the Academy Awards, BAFTA, Critics Choice Awards, Independent Spirit Awards and Producers Guild Awards. David is currently working on films like Proxima, Wages of Fear, Second Born, and Tin Man. He produced Tom Moore’s Night Mother, a winner of the Pulitzer Prize. In 2014, he returned to the Broadway with the award-winning flick The Bridges of Madison County. In the previous years, David had produced films like Bobbly, Stephen King’s Riding the Bullet, The Breed, Starship Troopers: Marauder, Loving Jezebel, The Sadness of Sex, Quick, Two Idiots in Hollywood, and much more.
