Charles Newirth is an American executive film producer who was born on August 22, 1955. He was raised in New York’s Scarsdale, Neuwirth studied at the Ohio State University and graduated with a BA degree in Photography and Cinema. He began as a location manager, serving for films like Flashdance, Pretty in Pink, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. As years passed by, he became production manager with RoboCop (1987) to his credit. As an associate producer, he debuted with “The Package”, released in 1989. Set amidst the Cold War, “The Package” did not fail to impress the audience with its smart political thriller storyline.
He teamed up with Barry Levinson to present three films directed by the latter. The first one, Bugsy (1991) revolved around the life of mobster Bugsy Siegel. Later in the 2000s, he became associated with Revolution Studios where he oversaw the physical production of the projects under the company. Among these films, Hugo, Iron Man 3, and Doctor Strange proved to be highly profitable projects. Hugo is a 2011 motion picture directed by Martin Scorcese which won five Oscars, especially in the technical categories. One of his blockbuster projects, Iron Man 3 released in the summer of 2013 broke many records at the Box-Office, marking his profitable maiden partnership with Marvel Comics. In 2016, he acted as an executive producer for Doctor Strange, a movie based on a Marvel character dealing with sorcery and alternate realities. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange who becomes the supreme sorcerer, the film got rave reviews for visual effects. Doctor Strange was in the fray for Best Visual Effects at the 2017 Academy Awards ceremony.
