Emma Gilljam, also known as Emma Gilljam Tillu, is a classical pianist from Stockholm, Sweden. Her journey in music started when she was 16 years old at the Sweden Music Conservatory of Falun. She graduated from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm in 2007 with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. She received the Gottfried Boon Scholarship from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 2004 and became the finalist in the national competition ‘Ung och Lovande,’ meaning ‘Young and Promising’ in 2003. She took part in many masterclasses, which were hosted by internationally recognized musicians such as Yonty Solomon, Paul Roberts, Hans Leygraf, Levon Chilingirian and The Altenberg Trio.
After graduation she has played across Sweden in many concerts and music festivals including Lyckå Chamber Music Festival, Båstad Chamber Music Festival and Musik vid Siljan in Sweden. She has been part of a trio called ‘Stockholm Chamber Trio,’ which has received incredible success in Sweden and worldwide. They have toured in China in 2008 commissioned by National Concerts Sweden- Rikskonserter. She has collaborated with many different forms of art and is the co-founder of the theatre company ‘Theatreact,’ where she regularly performed and that expanded her domain across Europe, United states and India.
She was an accompanist and a teacher at different cultural schools and Music Conservatories in Sweden. She moved to Mumbai in 2014 and has been working a teacher and freelance pianist since then. She performed her debut in Mumbai in 2015 under the baton of Piotr Borkowski at the Prithvi Theatre as a soloist with the Symphony of Orchestra of India. She has also performed solo and chamber music concerts across Delhi, Hyderabad, Pondicherry, Dehradun, and Trivandrum.
