When she was just about two years of age, her father died of a heroin overdose, after which she was brought up by her mother and stepfather. Before she became an actress, Ferlito was a Wilhelmina model, and also a New York City “club kid”. Ferlito is a single mother and has a son named Vince. Ferlito aspired to be an actress early in life, and through guest appearances and recurring parts in films and shows, she earned herself a spot in the entertainment business. Her first notable role would be Lizette Sanchez whom she played in the boxing drama series Undefeated, in 2003. This role got her an NAACP nomination for Outstanding Actress in a TV movie. In 2004, she also had a part in the film Spider-Man 2. Further, she garnered some positive notice from critics, for her role in Stephen Herek's Man of the House. Ferlito made her presence felt in the small screen industry as well. She was a regular on the first two seasons of CBS's CSI: NY.
Her role was that of Aiden Burn, who was a member of the forensic investigation task force headed by Gary Sinise. In addition to this, Ferlito had roles in other television shows as well. Those included NBC’s Law & Order and Third Watch, HBO’s The Sopranos; she also had a recurring role in the FOX series 24 as Claudia. After CSI: NY, Ferlito was cast in many films. Among those films were Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps; Nora Ephron's Julie & Julia; Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail; and Alfredo De Villa’s Nothing Like the Holidays. Before these, Ferlito acted in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof, a role which Tarantino wrote keeping Ferlito in mind. She also had a role in Lee Daniel’s Shadowboxer.
