Kelly Marcel

Kelly Marcel is a person of many talents. Born in the heart of United Kingdom on 10th January 1974, she is a producer, actress, and writer. She belongs to a family of artists. She was born to Terry Marcel, a prominent film director famous for directing the movie ‘Hawk the Slayer’ (1980) and Lindsey Brook, an actress. Her younger sister Rosie Marcel is also an actress. She also has a younger brother- Luke. Kelly’s parents got divorced in the year 1995. She attended the Local Girls’ School in Twickenham, a small town in London. She never liked school and dropped out of it.

She had an accomplished acting career that started at the age of three. She featured in the film Prey, directed by her father, Terry Marcel. In her 20’s, she began to do small roles in TV series and played a small part in various TV series including Casualty, The Bill, and Holby City. Kelly played the role of Marie Spencer in the TV show, The Bill. She found joy in the art of musical theater and began pursuing a career in it with the play, Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical. She also portrayed the character of young Vera in the television film, A Dark Adapted Eye (1994). At the end of 1990’s, she realized she couldn’t pursue acting as a career further anymore. At this time, she was playing the role of a woman in childbirth in the show, Holby City. She found this role disgusting and felt like she didn’t belong here. She then decided to stop pursuing a career in acting and decided to give writing a shot. Kelly started working at a video rental shop, Primetime DVD in Battersea to earn a living. This job gave her the time to work on her writing. Around that time, she met Tom Hardy Starring in everything from Peaky Blinders to The >> Read More... , and the two became good friends. Her first breakthrough came in when she got the chance to rewrite the script of the movie, Bronson (2009), starring Tom Hardy.

She also worked as the executive producer of Terra Nova, a sci-fi series. This show was her invention only and saw her gain recognition for herself. ‘’Saving Mr. Banks’’ was the movie that propelled her writing career to new heights. She and Sue Smith wrote the screenplay for this film. Kelly then went ahead to work as a scenarist of the movie Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), inspired by the novel by E.L. James.

She and Tom Hardy are really good friends with each other and established a theater company together in London known as Bad Dog. Tom Hardy even has a tattoo dedicated to Kelly. Kelly got engaged to Thom Fell, who is also an actor.
