Kelly Hu

Kelly Ann Hu was born on the 13th of February, 1968. With titles like Miss Teen USA 1985 and Miss Hawaii USA 1993, she is an American actress, former fashion model, and beauty queen. Hu was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of Honolulu engineering drafter Juanita Perez and the salesman and exotic bird breeder Herbert Hu. Hu's parents split while she was a youngster. Glenn, her brother, is a Resource Manager in the United States Army. She is descended from Chinese, English, Philippine, and Hawaiian ancestors. In Honolulu, Hawaii, she attended Maemae Elementary School and Kamehameha Schools. Hu has had a lifetime interest in singing and dance, as well as martial arts, since a youngster. Hu's cousin was a successful model in Japan, so Hu sought to emulate her.

Kelly Hu has been crowned Miss Hawaii Teen USA and participated in the Miss Teen USA pageant in 1985, becoming the pageant's third titleholder in history and the first Asian American winner. Hu was the first former Miss Teen USA to win a Miss USA state title when she was crowned Miss Hawaii USA in 1993. Hu relocated to Los Angeles and began her acting career in 1987 as Mike Seaver's Hawaiian love interest on the comedy Growing Pains. Hu featured in various television shows, including Night Court, Tour of Duty, 21 Jump Street, and Melrose Place. Her first film role was in Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.

Hu appeared in the 1995 film No Way Back as an undercover cop. Her later film roles include The Scorpion King (2002) and Cradle 2 the Grave (2004). She played Lai-Lai Zhen in the 2009 film The Tournament. Hu has appeared in Maxim magazine twice (May 2002 and May 2005). In 2015, she has named the face of Viagra, and she appeared in advertisements. Hu is an enthusiastic poker player who has competed in events such as the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour, including the WPT Celebrity Charity match on March 3, 2008.

She took part in HollywoodPoker.com's "Celebrity Poker Night" on May 30, 2006, and in July 2006, she finished in the top 200 in the World Series of Poker Ladies Tournament. Hu has worked hard to safeguard the Hawaiian ecosystem. She raised awareness for Reef Check Hawaii by participating in and successfully finishing the Honolulu Marathon. She also backed the Shark Fin Ban, which went into force in Hawaii in July 2010. This made it unlawful in Hawaii to possess, sell, or distribute shark fins. Hu appeared in the American television soap opera "Sunset Beach" and the police drama series "Nash Bridges." She has also appeared in several films and television series, including "X2," "White Frog" (2012), Arrow, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure as Adira. Hu modeled in Japan and Italy, where she rose to prominence as the star of a series of television commercials for Philadelphia brand cream cheese. She portrayed a young Japanese college student called Kaori.
