Mariette Hartley is an American actress. She was born as Mary Loretta. She was born on 21 June 1940 in Weston, Fairfield County, Connecticut to Paul Hembree Hartley and Mary Ickes "Polly". Hartley got married in 1960 to John Seventa but got divorced only after two years of marriage. Then she got married to Patrick Boyriven in 1978 and had two children with him Sean who was born in 1975 and Justine born in 1978. She got divorced from Patrick in 1996 and then went onto marry Jerry Sroka in 2005. John B. Watson was her maternal grandfather. He had discovered the psychological school of behaviorism. Mariette in her autobiography has described her problems with psychological problems.

This was probably due to her grandfather’s practical applications on her family. She also founded American Foundation for Suicide Prevention after her revealation of her father’s death, who had committed suicide in 1962 shooting himself. She is a well established on stage actress who has also done five television series, many television movies and also about a dozen feature films. She won three Clio awards for her commercials. Also, she has been a regular cast of the series namely Beantown, Peyton Place and Goodnight whereas she also made some guest appearance in episode of The Bob Newhart Show, Gunsmoke,  McCloud, M*A*SH, Nash Bridges, The Streets of San Francisco, and many more. Mariette in 1980, was substituted for Jane Pauley in Today Show on NBC. The sma eyear she also co- hosted the The Morning Program on CBS. Mariette Hartley is also supporting Center to Prevent Handgun Violence, SOJOURN and M.A.D.D.

Her educational video How to Stop the One You Love From Drinking and Using Drugs is part of  "Strong Families, Safe Families" series, the Paramount Home Video's. Mariette was honored by the National Mother's Day Committee as the Outstanding Mother of the Year in Washington, D.C.Mariette won an Emmy Award for the episode Married of the drama series The Incredible Hulk  as the Outstanding Lead Actress in the year 1978.
