Jennifer Carpenter aka Jennifer Leann Carpenter is an American actress. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky. Her parents were Catherine Carpenter and Robert Carpenter. She did her schooling from Raphael the Archangel and later Sacred Heart Academy. She took training from Walden Theater Conservatory program, and later at New York City's Juilliard School. Juilliard School is said to be her Alma Mater. Before completing her graduation, she got a role in Broadway, which was a revival of Arthur Miller's The Crucible in the year 2002.
Carpenter got into the limelight after her performance in The Exorcism of Emily Rose. She got critical attention. In 2006, she received awards like MTV Movie Award for Best Frightened Performance and also a Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award. In Scream Awards, she won Breakout Performer.
She essayed the role of Debra Morgan in a crime drama television series Dexter which started on October 1, 2006. She played Dexter’s sister in this series. The audience and critics appreciated her performance. She played the role of Debra. In 2011, she was seen in a play named Gruesome Playground Injuries at Second Stage Theater.
She also did a guest appearance in a television series The Good Wife. In 2014, she gave her voice to Juli Kidman in a horror video game The Evil Within. This was her first video game appearance, which got released in October 2014.
