Illeana Douglas

Illeana Douglas aka Illeana Hesselberg is a screenwriter, actress, director, and producer. Although she dabbled in various genres her specialty is the comedy. She was born in Quincy Massachusetts, United States of America on July 25, 1965.

Douglas' mother Joan was a school teacher and her father Gregory was a painter. They named her after Princess Ileana of Romania. Her grandfather Melvyn Douglas is an actor too. Her parents were overtly chilled out and never forced any of their children to attend school. Most of her family members loved movies and would encourage the younger generation to watch them. Illeana would visit the sets of her grandpa, and it influenced her a lot. After completing high school she migrated to New York in search of acting opportunities.

Simultaneously Illeana also attended American Academy of Dramatic Arts for a year. When she turned eighteen, she started to work under Steve Rubell and also took acting lessons from Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. Illeana tried stand-up comedy for a while but eventually quit it. After much struggle she managed to bag a tiny role in New York Stories.

Illeana continued doing such small roles before finally landing a full feature character in Grace of My Heart.
