Corinna Harfouch is a German actress who was earlier known as Corinna Meffert. She was born on born on 16th October 1954, in Suhl, German Democratic Republic. She is the daughter of Marianne Meffert and Wolfgang Meffert. She studies at Pioneer Theatre, where she acquired her acting skills first. In the Extended Secondary School, she finished high school. After training as a nurse, she began her college in 1976 at the Technical University of Dresden to study textile engineering. Harfouch studied acting from 1978 to 1981 at the Academy of Dramatic Arts Ernst Busch in Berlin and was a master student of Vera Oelschlegel in theatre in the palace. One of her greatest theatre successes at the time was her portrayal of the Lady Macbeth in the Director Heiner Müller’s Macbeth. After a few minor film tasks, she landed the title role in the movie The Actress (1988). Harfouch’s interpretation of the role General Harass was termed as sensual in the movie The Devil's General in 1997. For this role, she was chosen by the German critics for Actress of the Year. The German television audience gave her recognition after her empathetic portrayal of the title character of the documentary feature Vera Brühne (2001). In the film Downfall (2004), she played the role of Magda Goebbels, who poisoned her children. In 1993, she bagged the award at the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival. In 1996, she won the Bavarian Film Award for Best Actress. She was also a respected member of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1994. Recently, in 2015, she won five awards, back to back for both theatre and cinema. She won the Grimme Prize for The Case Bruckner. Then she won the Berlin Theatre Prize and the Prize for Drama at the 11th Festival of German Films. Finally, she won the German Actor Award for Best Actress. Her first husband was Nabil Harfouch. With him, she had a daughter. She had her second child with musician Stefan Maass. From 1985 to 2007, she was in her second marriage to Michael Gwisdek. From this marriage, she had two sons, the composer Johannes Gwisdek and actor Robert Gwisdek. Meanwhile, Harfouch was known to be dating Bernd Eichinger. Presently she lives with the actor Wolfgang Krause Zwieback.
