Alison Lohman is an American actress and was born on 18th September 1979 in Palm Springs, California. She was born as the first child to a patisserie owner father and an architect mother. At a very young age, she was detected with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). She had to undergo a medicinal course for this and still continues it.
In early years of school, Alison was very shy and timid. Later she went on to try theater. She debuted in the film industry at the age of 9, through a musical play called ‘The Sound of Music’, at Palm Desert's McCallum theater. At the age of 11, she played the lead role in another musical called ‘Annie’. She also won The Desert Theater League's award for Most Outstanding Actress in a Musical for her performance in Annie.
Alison graduated from high school in 1997. Then she moved from California to Los Angeles to pursue a career in screen acting. She worked in Science fiction B-movies including ‘Kraa! The sea Monster’ and ‘Planet Patrol’. She also worked in few television productions which include ‘Pacific Blue’, a crime drama series in the episode titled Seduced, ‘7th Heaven’ which is an American family drama series in an episode called Let's Talk About Sex, an episode of ‘Crusade’ called The Long Road. She also appeared in 4 episodes of ‘Safe Harbor’ in 1999. She appeared in a few children's movies. Names that top on this list are ‘The Million Dollar Kid’, in 2000, and ‘Delivering Milo’ in 2001.
In 2002, Alison played the lead role in an American drama film called ‘White Oleander’. The box office record of this film was not very good, but Alison's performance was highly appreciated by critics. She bagged Young Hollywood Award for Superstar of Tomorrow for this film. She was also nominated for Phoenix Film Critics Society Award for Best Newcomer. In 2003, she starred in ‘Matchstick Men’, an American comedy crime film. Matchstick Men was a failure at the box office, but Alison was again praised for her performance. Later in 2003, she appeared in a fantasy drama film called ‘ Big Fish Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ which again was a box office failure, but Alison didn't fail to win praise for herself. In 2005, she worked in two movies, ‘Where the Truth Lies’ and ‘The Big White’. In the same year, she also worked as a voice artist for the lead character of the English dub of ‘Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind’.
Alison starred in family adventure drama, ‘Flicka’, in 2006. For this film, Alison had to train in horse riding. Flicka was a huge hit in the market. She showcased her versatility in ‘Things We Lost in the Fire’, a 2007 fantasy drama, in which she played a recovering heroin addict.
