Alice Pearce

Alice Pearce was a renowned American Actress. People knew her for her comedic supporting role in films.

She also lived in Brussels, Antwerp, Rome and Paris because her father was a foreign Banking Specialist; that’s why her family moved to Europe. As a teenager she returned to The United States and went to Sarah Lawrence College. She completed her graduation in 1940 with a degree in drama.

Alice Pearce married twice in her life. In 1948, she married John Rox. But after few years of marriage John Rox died of a heart attack. He was a composer. After that in 1964, she married Paul Davis. He was a Stage Manager at that time. Alice Pearce has no children.

Alice Pearce started working in the nightclubs as a comedienne in the early days of her career. In 1944 to 1946 she worked in the town. She also did On the Town, which is a Broadway venture. Gene Kelly, the director, liked her work very much that she was the only person of the venture to be cast in the film version during 1949. It was a musical film. Alice received unanimous praise, and she did her own variety show on television entitled The Alice Pearce Show.

In 1964, she did Bewitched and garnered the Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Performance in a supporting role in comedy for the Bewitched during 1966. In 2003, she fetched the TV Land Awards in the category of Nosiest Neighbor for her work in Bewitched.

Alice Pearce died from Ovarian Cancer. She maintained this as a secret. But rapid weight loss was evident and a symbol of her illness. Alice was gritty enough to brave her illness and worked till her end.
