Hanns Zischler

Hanns Zischler is a German Actor and Director. He is renowned in Hollywood for his roles in Munich (2005), Clouds of Sils Maria (2014) and Ripley’s Game (2002). He has appeared in almost 242 films since 1968 in his career. He is popular in Sweden for his portrayal of Josef Hillman in Martin Beck movies. He has also done many critically acclaimed movies in German. Hanns was born on June 18, 1947, in Nuremberg of Bavaria province in Germany. His mother passed away when he was young, and his entrepreneur father sent him to a Boarding school. He was a big fan of contemporary German films and eventually acting became his passion.

After completing his graduation, Hanns started to audition for working in German Film Industry. His first role was a very insignificant one in 1968 short film, Some Player Shoots Again. He appeared in another Short Boomerang in 1971. Hanns received praise from many local directors for his role in the short and bagged his first lead role in Drama Summer In The City(1971) . His portrayal of a man just released from a prison won over the critics.

In 1976, Hanns appeared in a road-movie Kings of the Road alongside Rudiger Volder. Critics applauded the film, and it went on to win the Best Film in Palme D’or Awards. He appeared in various Critically acclaimed German films in the following 20 years, including The meetings of Anna (1978), Doktor Faustus(1982),A Woman in Flames (1983), Tarot (1986) and 23 (1998). Hanns won Silver Berlin Bear in Berlin International Film Festival for ensemble cast for the film Paradiso – Sieben Tag emit seiben Frauen. He won applause for his role in 2002 thriller Ripley’s Game (2002), starring along with John Malkovich John Malkovich is an eminent and award-winning act >> Read More... . In 2003, he turned director for the documentary movie Kafka Va Au Cinema. Hanns also won best film award for the movie at LiteraVision Awards.

His acting skills grabbed the attention of the critics. Hans appeared in many German TV series in between, including The Old Fox, Die Expositionsmabnahme nach Verbier, and Stations of the Cross. Hans portrayed Dr. Stein in Political Drama ‘A Prominent Patient,’ for which he earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Czech Lion Awards. His upcoming movie is Professor Wall im Bordell (2018) and Crash test Aglae (2017).
