Earl Boen is a veteran actor and voice actor. He was born in New York City in November 1945 and spent most of his early life there. He was married to Carole Kean until her death in 2001. While his primary address reads Honolulu, he often spends a large part of his time in Los Angeles. Before beginning his career in Hollywood, Boen appeared in regional theatre productions on the East Coast. He is praised for his precise and sharp delivery. His distinctive trademark baritone voice is probably the reason for his popularity in the voice over industry. His first voice role was as Taurus in the video of G.I.Joe: The Movie. In an interview with a radio channel, Earl Boen talks about how his deep voice has been a blessing. He said he had to “work to get rid of his well-trained voice to do commercials so that it sounds like somebody speaking as opposed to someone doing the restrained speaking.” In Hollywood, he is popular for his role of Dr. Peter Silberman in the Terminator series.
Besides Arnold Schwarzenegger, he is the only other actor to have starred in all the three Terminator movies, in the same role. Other movies done by Boen include Nutty Professor II: The Klumps(2000), Battle Beyond the Stars(1980), Marked For Death(1990); and The Man With Two Brains(1983); amongst many others. In most of these films, he invariably plays the role of a doctor, reverend, judge or psychologist. Boen has also done a lot of TV shows such as Mama’s Family, wherein he plays the role of Rev. Lloyd Meechum. He also appears in the role of a clergyman in episodes of The Golden Girls, The Golden Palace, The Wonder Years, Seinfeld, Boy Meets World, and Three’s Company. He appeared in the comedy series, Stewardess School(1986) along with his late wife, Carole Kean. Although said to have retired from screen acting in December 2003, Earl Boen continues to do voice acting in animated series, video games and radio channels.
