Dominic Monaghan is an actor from the UK. His date of birth is 8th December 1976, in Berlin in the then West Germany. He is known for his roles in feature films like X-Men Origin: Wolverine and The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, and television series Lost and Wild Things With Dominic Monaghan.

Dominic was the son of Nurse Maureen and science teacher Austin Monaghan. He is the younger brother of vocalist Matthew and step brother of Luke Twardowski-reid. His family would shift every four years from Berlin to Düsseldorf to Stuttgart to Münster. Finally, his family moved to Heaton Moor in Stockport in London when he was eleven years old. He attended high school at the St Anne’s Roman Catholic High School in Stockport. He was a regular part of dramas at school like A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist and Bugsy Malone, then he joined the Manchester Youth Theatre. He studied English literature, drama and geography at the Aquinas College.

Dominic was recruited from the Manchester Youth Theater for the role of Geoffrey Shawcross, Hetty’s young sidekick in the television series Hetty Wainthropp Investigations for four seasons.

Dominic made his feature film debut with the television movie Hostile Waters in 1997 where he played the role of Sasha a Russian soldier. He then acted in the TV flick This Is Personal: The Hunt For The Yorkshire Ripper in 2000 where he played the role of Jimmy Furey.

Dominic came to the spotlight for his role as Meriadock Brandybuck in the movies The Lord Rings trilogy which was based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s trilogy novels of the same name. Dominic won the Phoenix Film Critics’ Society Award for the Best Cast and was nominated for the Best Newcomer Empire Award and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in Motion Picture award at the Screen Actors Guild Award for the first film The Fellowship Of The Ring in 2001. For the second movie The Two Towers in 2002 he won the Best Cast award at the Phoenix Film Critics’ Society Award and was nominated for the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture award at Screen Actors Guild Award. In the third movie The Return Of The King in 2003 Dominic won the Broadcast Film Association Award, The National Board of Film Review and the Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Cast, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for the Best Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Dominic also won the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series award at the Screen Actors Guild Award for his role as Charlie Price in the television series Lost.
