Casey Affleck was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts on 12th of August, 1975 to Christopher Anne and Timothy Byers Affleck. , widely known for his role in Shakespeare In Love etc is his elder brother. Casey Affleck was raised by his mother after his parents separated ways when he was only 8 because of Timothy's alcoholism.

He went to Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in 1993 for graduation. Further, he went to George Washington University and Columbian University. He majored subjects like physics, astronomy, politics and western philosophy. Casey's first attempt at television was in Lemon Sky. He got noticed when appeared in The Kennedys of Massachusetts where he essayed the role of Bobby Kennedy.

His debut movie was To Die For (1995) directed by Gus Van Sant where he played a teenage sociopath. He starred in Race the Sun (1996) which was a failure at the box office after which he got a very mundane cameo role to his name in Chasing Amy (1997). He played the role of 'Little Kid'. He then got a fairly significant role in Good Will Hunting.

He tried his hand at screenplay writing with his debut in Gerry (2002) which received a rather mixed reaction. In The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) Casey was a supporting actor and worked opposite Jesse James and . He received several nominations including an Oscar nomination. He further proved his mettle in acting in his brother Ben Affleck's Gone Baby Gone (2007). This was the first time he was given the lead role which also brought him several nominations and a Prism Award for Best Performance in Feature Film. He made his directorial debut with I'm Still Here (2010).

Affleck is now working to direct a biopic on Josh Hamilton, a baseball player. This role will have Jack Reynor in the lead who was recently seen in movie like Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014). Afflick may also be seen to play the role of a detective in Mark Romanek's Boston Strangler. He has been an active member in several animal rights movements. He has also participated in PETA campaigns. Owning to his inclination to restoring animal rights, he is a pure vegetarian.

He got into a relationship with actress Summer Phoenix who worked in movies like Suzie Gold (2004) etc. Their six year old courtship period culminated into a marriage in 3rd of June, 2006. They have two sons, Indiana and Atticus.
