Meera is a filmmaker, describing herself as a voice for the voiceless. Born on May 19, 1994, Meera is a resident of Leicester, England, UK, and holds a master's degree in 21st-century Media from Coventry University. Meera has been working as a cinematographer, editor, and director of short films since 2012. She debuted with Reality in 2012, followed by four other short films in 2013 and one in 2014. Her big break came in 2015 with her short film Transindia, a documentary dwelling on the lives of transgender community Hijras in Ahmedabad.
The documentary highlighted the hardships, day-to-day abuse, and sexism faced by the community. This not only earned Meera a nomination in the Grierson Awards but also the award for Best Student Documentary in the Royal Television Society Award and Best Short Doc at the Kashish Mumbai Film Festival. Her last work was Majoor 9195, a documentary exploring the lives of Majoor women.
