Jean-François Pouliot was born in 1957 in Montreal, Québec, Canada. He passed out from ‘Concordia University’ with a B.A degree in ‘Communication Art’s along with a minor degree in ‘Philosophy’. He initially started as an assistant cameraman in local ones. Time past he developed well, turned to international projects like “Once Upon a Time in America” by Sergio Leone and “Hotel New Hampshire” by Tony Richardson. During his journey his expertise in many areas grew, he started co-writing and Co-directing a lot of short and animated films for Canada’s National Film board.
His journey went well, in 1982, ‘Cossette Communication Marketing’ made Jean as the Writer-designer. ‘Cossette Communication Marketing’ was Canada’s one of the well-known advertising company. He never stopped there, he got promoted to Creative director of French McDonald’s restaurants for advertising. His work and Fame brought him the ‘Mundial de la Publicite Francophone’. Jean’s attention turned to filmmaking, with the knowledge in advertising. He began his career for one of the biggest producing firms for TV advertising, the Fabrique d'Images.
He worked majorly for Canadian commercials, and with a lot of Canadian clients, he had a career boost. Later, he started working for the American and European companies. His work on ‘Loto-Quebec’ advertisement brought to Cannes to receive a Silver Lion. His later fifteen-year journey as the commercial director brought him great fame. He made a figure of 500 commercials. Jean then was elected to hold the presidency of the company. He approach was always with the feature film projects. Jean came across the screenplay of Ken Scott’s “Seducing Doctor Lewis” a dramatic comedy.
The movie was a great success in Canada and was sold in 25 countries. This movie was presented in more than 65 film festivals, grabbing a huge number of awards. ‘Little Book of Revenge’, it was the second movie he signed to work in 2006. Interestingly, before the theatrical release of the movie, it won the audience award. Later, it got into the four nominations for Genie awards including the best movie and best director award. His one of the finest work includes he collaborated with the Canadian film board to bring the first ever stereoscopic film.
In 2010, the Canadian film board requested Jean to release his movie "Glimpses / Impressions" at the Shanghai world at the pavilion of Canada. His success journey continued. His recent film “Dr. Crabbie”, a social comedy, cover the tour in India and Canada. He then directed animated version of the “The Classic War of the Hats”, “Cult series Tales”. In 2016, his movie “The 3 Little Pigs” released, gained good success at the Box office.
