Sam Taylor Johnson

Sam Taylor Johnson, full name Samantha Louise Taylor Johnson was born on 4th March 1967 in Croydon, London. She is an English filmmaker, Visual Artist, and Photographer. Her early life was a little tough as when she was only nine years old, her father left the family.

They moved from Croydon to East Sussex after her parents’ divorce. She started her career as a painter and in the early 1990s, began exhibiting fine art photography. One of her most famous work was in collaboration with Henry Bond and was titled 26 October 1993. They portrayed the roles of John Lennon and Yoko Ono few hours before Lennon’s Assassination. She began making multi-screen video works in 1994 after her exhibition of Killing Time. She started gaining recognition in 1996 and was nominated for Turner Prize in 1998 but didn’t win. She won the “The Illy Café” Prize for the Most Promising Young Artist in 1997.

She then started working on various projects including photomurals, video portraits, and photographic exhibitions. Her Hollywood directorial debut film was Nowhere Boy released in August 2008 which was a biopic of John Lennon’s childhood. She was nominated for the BAFTA award but was unlucky to lose it to Duncan Jones.

Here she met Aaron Johnson who she eventually got married to in 2012. L. James. She was in line to direct the sequel “ Fifty Shades Darker Click to look into! >> Read More... ” but decided against it. She has directed and overseen many short films also like “Death Valley” in 2006, “Love You More” in 2008 and ‘Daydream’ in 2011. She also directed a music video in 2011 which starred Aaron Johnson who was her fiancé at the time.
