Joy Browne

Joy Browne was born on October 24,1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. She is a renowned radio psychologist and established her career through her unique personality, confidence, and bold behavior. Not only a psychologist, she has also been an author, film reviewer and a host. At the age of 3, she and her family moved to Pennsylvania where she attended a primary school. She had five older siblings and, when she turned 10, she and her family members went to Denver.

She majored in English at Rice University which is situated in Houston, Texas, USA. She possessed this ability to lend an ear and paid heed to even the tiniest issues of others. She even opted for a few psychology courses in high school but never thought that she could earn a living out of this profession. She even holds the behavioral science degree offered by the Rice University. Joy completed her graduation from North Eastern University located in Boston, Massachusetts and possesses an M.A. and Ph.D. degree in psychology.

After completing her graduation, she started her private psychology practice and loved every bit of it. It helped her acquire useful experience and a perception of the real-world. After gaining many years of experience in private practice, she was approached by WITS, a radio station in Boston, to do a talk show. Initially, Joy was reluctant to accept the offer as she didn’t have an inclination towards radio but later accepted it. She became immensely popular with her first program, Up Close and Personal in the 70’s. Her first day as a radio host was terrible and she wasn’t on her best behavior but everything was settled later on. She worked at WITS for almost three and a half years.

She also hosted two-three TV shows/Talk shows- one in 1999 and the other in 2005 which used to air on Discovery Health Cable Channel. She is also a woman of letters and has penned down many books based on relationship advice and life. Coming to her personal life, she got married after completing her graduation but after some time, her marriage fell apart.

Before starting her career as a radio host, she was also a teacher and an engineer. She also received prestigious awards for her work and was featured in a popular American magazine, Hall of Fame in the year 1996. She is a good advisor and has assisted people on many issues. Currently, she is 71 years old.
