Maurice-Pierre aka Ricet Barrier is a French singer and actor, who was born in Romilly-sur-Seine on August 25, 1932. ( Aube ). Ricet Barrier played in the RTF's Petit Conservatoire de la chanson de Mireille from 1955 to 1956. In the same year, he met Georges Weil alias Bernard Lelou, with whom he collaborated closely on both writing and music until Lelou died in 1990. Les Frères Jacques popularised a huge portion of their compositions, taking over twenty-one of them during their career.
During the 1950s, Ricet Barrier performed at the left bank cabarets in parallel to Paris. After being discharged from the army in 1958, he met Jacques Canetti and recorded La Servante du ChĂ¢teau for the Philips label, which won the Grand Prix de l' AcadĂ©mie Charles-Cros. Ricet Barrier made multiple appearances on children’s television shows in the 1960s and 1970s. Mr Ziboux, a character from the Colargol cartoon series, and Saturnin le Canard's main character were both voiced by him.
He also signs the credits for Barbapapa, for which he is the narrator. Lelou and Barrier collaborated on musicals and theatre with They wrote Les Zygomatiques, a children's drama that was premiered in 1975 and aired on French-speaking Swiss television in 1976. In 1985, they also adapted Renart's Roman. His last public appearance was in 2010 at Le Chat-huant in Sadirac, Gironde, shortly before his death.
