Nachiketa Ghosh was a musical star in India, who made his place as a widely known music director. His music contributions covered Bengali, Hindi, and Oriya music, which got him immense popularity and love.  Nachiketa's deep influence on Bengali music was found in both modern and film songs. He was recognized not only as a music director but also as a versatile singer. His soothing voice was recorded in various gramophones which serves as a witness to his skills and talents. 

He was born on 28 January 1925 into a respected family in Kolkata. Nachiketa's father’s name was Dr. Sanat Kumar Ghosh, he was a well-known physician, he also had the honor of attending physician of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the iconic Chief Minister of West Bengal. Nachiketa's heart resonated with music despite his family's medical background and scholarly pursuits. He also played table alongside these artists which also helped him form deeper connections with music and songs. He started his career as a music director at the early age of twenty-four and set a new boundary for Bengali music. He had new and innovative ideas and approaches to music which gave a new and fresh look to the Bengali music industry. 

Nachiketa Ghosh's musical journey began during his college days when he worked as a music director for the film "Twenty-Fifth July."However, his professional debut as a music director was with the release of "Boudir Bon" in 1953. He then released "Joydeb" in 1954, which got him extensive popularity. Nachiketa had the pleasure of working with numerous musical masterminds during the golden era of Bengali music. He worked with celebrities like Gouri Prasanna Majumdar, Hemanta Kumar Mukhopadhyay, and the legendary actor Uttam Kumar.

He temporarily moved to Mumbai in the early 1960s to work in the Hindi film industry but soon returned to Bengal to continue his eminent career.Nachiketa's musical legacy includes iconic songs such as "Mou Bone Aaj," "Malati Bhromore," "Nishi Raat Banka Chand," "Putul Nebe Go," "Nir Choto Khoti Nei," "Surjo Dobar Pala," and many more. These songs are engraved in the records of Bengali music history. He has also created notable children's songs, including "Moinar Ma Moinamoti" and "Hatti Matim Tim." Moreover, his contributions to the audio play "Thakurmar Jhuli" continue to be cherished by children throughout Bengal.

Nachiketa Ghosh was married to Smt. Sibani Dutta and they both had two daughters named Srabani and Sampurna, and a son named Suparna Kanti. Significantly, Suparna Kanti Ghosh followed his father's path and made his place as a well-known music composer in Bengal. He has left behind a legacy for the Bengali music industry and his contributions are cherished throughout the country. He died on 12 October 1976.

Nachiketa Ghosh was born on 28th January 1925 in Calcutta, Bengal. Nachiketa Ghosh was a most potent music director and composer. He mainly composed Hindi, Bengali, and Oriya songs. He was an excellent musical star from India. He had a significant influence on his audience and was highly popular. He gave a new dimension to the Bengali music including both, modern songs and Bengali film songs. He was also a dynamic singer, there are around five published Gramophone records where his role was just as a singer. Nachiketa was married to Smt. Sibani Dutta: they have two daughters and one son. Nachiketa Ghosh’s father, Dr. Sanat Kumar Ghosh was an eminent physician of Kolkata, also a gold medalist. Nachiketa’s father inspired him to become a doctor, Nachiket behaved accordingly, he passed out from R.G.Kar Medical College and Hospital, then affiliated with the University of Calcutta, as an M.B.B.S. doctor, but he never accepted medical science as his profession. He always had a keen interest in music, and from his childhood, he was accompanied for playing the Tabla, His interest towards music and table started growing more and more. During his college years, he began with his musical journey, every Sunday, renowned musicians like Krishna Chandra Dey, Subal Dasgupta, Kamal Dasgupta, Kana Sarkari used to gather at Dr. Sant Kumar Ghosh place and that gave little Nachiketa a chance to observe them closely and learn a lot from these masters. Nachiketa was passionate about music; he was very dedicated to his work.

He was a scholar, being a doctor, he managed music and he became a renowned artist. At a very young age, became the youngest music director, his style was mind-blowing, and he was the star of Bengal. He delivered several masterpieces, and his work was featured in many movies, such as “Twenty-fifth July”, but the movie was never released in West Bengal. in 1953. The film “Boudoir Bon” was released where, Nachiketa appeared as a professional music director, it was his first work. Nachiketa has worked with great geniuses, and he has delivered numerous melodious songs. Nachiketa with his musical expertise gave a revolutionary effect to the entire Bengal, which the audience would never forget. After a wide range of experience, he came to Mumbai to work in the Mumbai Film industry, Still, after some years, he was back in Kolkata, he worked with several songs from films like "Dhonni Meye,” "Mouchak,” “Sannashi Raja,” "Nishi Padma,” “Strii,” "Bilombito Loy,” etc.

Nachiketa Ghosh was indeed a legend; his work was brilliant, and he will always be a star for everybody. His memories will always be cherished throughout the nation. He took his last breath on 12th October 1976.
