Pratim D. Gupta is a well-known screenwriter, film director, and journalist from the Bengal  film industry. He was born on 11 November 1981 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He studied at South Point School Kolkata and completed graduation in Mass Communication and Film Studies from St. Xaviers College, Kolkata. Pratim's career started as a journalist in the newspaper The Telegraph. In 2009, his script, Vanish, was selected at the prestigious Locarno International Film Festival.

His other Bengali movie, Maacher Jhol, also got selected for the International Film Festival of India Goa, 2018. This film won the Best Dialogue Filmfare Award. He has also written and directed the Hindi telefilm Mirchi Malini. His other Bengali film, Ahare Mon, was picked as one of the best films by film critic Meenakshi Shedde on Sunday Mid-Day.

Pravin Das Gupta was on 11th November 1981, Kolakata. He completed schooling at South Point School, Kolkata, and a bachelor’s in mass communication and film studies from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. He is an Indian journalist, Film critic, Screenwriter, and film director. He is hard-working and dedicated to his work. He has a creative mind and a wide experience in films and cinemas. In 2013, he collaborated with ten other filmmakers to be part of the collaborative project X: Past Is Present. The film premiered in New York in 2014 and then released in India. His next film was Shaheb Bibi Golaam, was released in 2016, also it was the first Bengali film to be picked by Netflix, going on to win 6 Filmfare Awards, where he was rewarded for best Screenplay. He is very punctual in his work and consistent. Pratim’s screenplay was selected for the prestigious Sundance Lab, where he developed a script with Oscar winners.

He also got featured in the official selection of the Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India 2018 in Goa, also picked by Netflix, and rewarded as the best Dialogue Filmfare award. Early in 2018, Pratim wrote and directed the Hindi telefilm Mirchi Malini for Star Plus and Hotstar, also another film, Ahare Mon, was selected as one of the best films by film critic Meenakshi Shedde on Sunday Mid-Day.
