She was beautiful, charming, good as an actor and also an excellent dancer. Dancing abilities are what usually lacked by Bengali's, but she had that too in her. She became famous in a very short span. She was known to be the Queen of Bengali Cinema. She made her debut in acting with Sriman Prithviraj, directed by Tarun Majumdar. She couldn't complete her education due to financial instabilities. She was groomed by Sandhya Roy and Sabitri Chattopadhyay, which improvised her acting skills. She got married on 2 May 1976, to actor Tilak Chakraborty. They became parents to Tamal. Mahua won Best Actress Award in FIlmare Awards for Dadar Kirti in the year 1980.

She died on July 22, 1986, under mysterious circumstances. She got severe burns in a fire accident.

The real reason for the fire to occur is still unknown.

Mahua is an Indian film actress and has worked for both Hindi and Bengali film industry. She has most of her work in the Bengal Film Industry. She was born in Kolkata on September 24th, 1958. At the very young age of 27, she died due to her owned injuries on July 22nd, 1986. People say that she met with a fire accident on 12-13 July.

The cause of this fire accident is still a mystery. When she died, she has a load of over fifteen movies in her shoulders. The whole industry felt an enormous loss after her demise. Mahua was born in Kolkata; director Tarun Majumdar changed her name from Shipra Roychodhury to Mahua Roychodhury. Tarun Majumdar discovered her in a lower-middle-class family in Dum Dum.

Her grooming took place under the supervision of Sandhya Roy. Mahua’s father, Niranjan Roy Chowdhury was a dancer by profession. Thus, Mahua was a great dancer too. She knew both, classical and modern type of dancing, which was very rare at that time.

She was unable to complete her studies due to the financial issues in her family. Then, she made a debut in the year 1972, in Tarun Majumdar’s film called Sriman Prithviraj. Mahua started working in any movies then, which include Je JekhaneDariye—1974, Bagh BandiKhela—1975, SeyiChokh—1976, Dampati—1976, Anandamela—1976, and Jiban MorurPrante—1976. On May 2nd, 1976, she got married to Tilak Chakraborty.

In a very short span of years, Mahua got much fame and money. People say that movies used to go super hit just in the name of Mahua. In the year 1980, she received the Filmfare Best Actress Award for regional cinema for the movie Dadar Kirti.

In the year 1987, she won The Best Actress Award Damascus International Film Festival for AadmiAurAurat. Mahua is mostly known for three movies which include Dadar Kirti, Sriman Prithviraj, Rajpurush. Mahua was one of the most talented actresses in the industry.
