Ranjan Ghosh is an Indian Filmmaker and Writer. He was born on January 8th in Calcutta, West Bengal. The movie received critical acclamation and catapulted Ghosh as one of the leading directors in the Bengali film industry. The film was based on the works of Bard and was given as a tribute to him on his 450th birth anniversary. It was also screened at the Tisch School of the Arts under New York University in 2015 and was later included in their Ph.D. in Cinema Studies (Shakespeare and Indian Cinema). The film was later made part of the UGC Literature Archive through the Shakespeare in Bengal project, carried out by Jadavpur University.
Ghosh did his schooling at St. Xavier's College in Durgapur. He opted for physics as his major at Jadavpur University which he left immediately to become a mariner. He holds a Baccalaureate degree in Nautical Sciences from The University of Mumbai, but very soon he left his sea life to study film making from one of India's leading institutes in the field, Whistling Woods International, Mumbai, where he majored in screenwriting in 2009.
Ranjan worked as the script assistant on the winning 2009 Bengali film Antaheen, while still in college, which later won the National Award. The film is a loose adaptation of Jha's National Award Winning film Gangaajal, but has not yet been titled or renamed owing to the troubling political scene in West Bengal. In 2018, he directed and also wrote the script for the movie Rongberonger Korhi. His other project was Ahaa Re, another one where he carries out the role of a screenwriter, production designer, and director. He is currently in the works of his latest film Mahishasur Mardini, which is supposed to release in 2022.
