Prakash Jha, a director, film producer and screenwriter, was born on 27th of February 1952. ‘Prakash Jha Productions’ is his production venture. Hailing from Bihar, Prakash Jha went on to study B.Sc Honors in Ramjas College. Eventually he stopped studies and came to Mumbai, wanting to be a painter. As he was preparing for entrance exam for a course in painting, Prakash Jha watched the movie Dharma, and thus developed a passion for film making. The year 1973 saw him joining the Film And Television Institute of India, Pune, in order to study editing. But unfortunately the studio was shut down and thus Prakash returned to Mumbai and earned his living. Initially Prakash Jha was working on documentaries. 

His documentary, 'Face After Storm' received the 'Best Non Feature Film National Award'. Prakash’s debut commercial film, Hip Hip Hurray was released in 1984. This film was written by Gulzar and had Deepti Naval starring in it. Then came Damul in the same year and its stupendous success made Prakash a filmmaker to reckon with. The film gained both the National Award and Filmfare Award. His flick Parinati was released during the year 1986. This film had the talented Nandita Das amongst others sharing screen space. The year 2010 saw Prakash directing the political thriller Rajneeti. The film took up the story of Mahabharat in today’s world. Ranbir Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Ajay Devgan, Nasureedin Shah and Manoj Bajpai acted in this film. Then Aarakshan was released which had Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan sharing screen space.

During 2012 Prakash’s film Chakravyuh, starring Abhay Deol, Kabir Bedi and Arjun Rampal, amongst others was released. Prakash Jha also had a brief stint in politics but it didn’t work out. He is greatly involved in social activism; he is committed to a NGO named Anubhooti. Prakash Jha also did quite some TV serials. On his personal front, Prakash Jha was wedded to Deepti Naval but later divorced. This couple had adopted a girl.

You would surely remember the Pepsi ad featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Sachin Tendulkar. This ad was directed by Prahlad Kakkar, who was born on 24 March 1950. Genesis Film Productions is his progeny and he is reputed for his outspoken talk. Genesis was founded in the year 1977 and is one among the top production houses of India. It was very instrumental in popularizing television advertising. Kakkar possesses an immense liking for scuba diving. He is in fact a scuba diving instructor. A scuba-diving institute was founded by Kakkar during the year 1995; this school is known as Lacadives and is located at Kadmat Island. A hotel, coffee shop and a wine bar is also managed by Kakkar. Reading, swimming and cooking are the other passions of Kakkar. He was instrumental in breathing life into the concept of tea in India. This ended up in the formation of Tea Centre, which is connected with the Tea Board of India. Kakkar spent his early life in Mumbai and had his primary schooling in Dehradun. After completing his higher studies in 1966 he graduated in Economics in 1970. Kakkar entered the domain of advertising in 1971. He also tested waters in Bollywood. During 1971 he got himself associated with ace director Shyam Benegal and worked as assistant director in flicks such as Manthan, Ankur and Bhumika. Other than ad films, Genesis Film Productions was also involved in short films. Bhali is a short film which got Genesis Film Productions a good name. Kamasutra ads also made Kakkar popular. Reef Watch Marine Conservation, founded in 1994, is the child of Kakkar. Kakkar is involved in a pivotal role in Natura Outdoor Education Trust. On the personal front, Kakkar is wedded to Mitali Dutt Kakkar, who manages Offspring and Offshoot, film ventures. The couple is blessed with three boys. Kakkar fetched the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award from IIAFA for his immense service to film art and advertising.

Puri Jagannadh wears many feathers to his cap including production, direction and screenplay writing. His main area of interest is Telugu films. He has received Nandi awards thrice in his career spanning more than a decade. During the year 2004, Jagannadh ventured into Bollywood with the flick, Shart: The Challenge. This film bombed at the box office. Bbuddah..Hoga Terra Baap is his directorial venture of 2011 and it has the credit of being recorded in Oscar library. Puri Jagannadh Touring Talkies and Vaisho Academy are his production ventures. Puri Sangeet is the music company organized by Jagannadh. Badri, Idiot, Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi, Itlu Sravani Subramanyam, Pokiri, Desamuduru, Golimaar, Sivamani, Iddarammayilatho, Businessman, Temper and Heart Attack are some of his box office successes. Born on 28 September 1966 in Pithapuram, Andhrawala, Jagannadh pursued his studies at St. Theresa R.C.M. High school. He initially tested waters as an assistant director to ace director Ram Gopal Varma and worked under him in many Telugu flicks. His first directorial venture, Badri, was a commercial success. This film had Pawan Kalyan in the main role and the film led way to Jagannadh to direct more films. Telugu actor Ravi Teja and Jagannadh share a good rapport and they have worked together in Idiot, Itlu Sravani Subramanyam and Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi. Jagannadh helmed direction for the debut venture of Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja. Jagannadh received the Nandi Award for his flick Pokiri. This film also fetched him the Best Director Filmfare Award during the year 2006. This film ran for over 500 days, which is indeed a great feat. It was remade into Tamil and Hindi too, and it was successful in these languages. Jagannadh also tried his luck in Kannada film industry and the flicks that he directed here include, Yuvaruvaraja and Appu. Jagannadh had also succumbed to depression once, but later he took it in his stride and emerged a wise person.
