Zahid Hossain Shovon is a renowned Bengali actor who has made his name in theatre, television, and films, over the years. He completed his studies at the University of Dhaka, after which he worked in different fields starting in 1990, first at AB Bank, then at Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways. Besides this, he worked as deputy head of the program at Boishakhi Television and as general manager at Ekushey ETV. He worked in several TV dramas like Doll’s House, Chor Kuthuri, Shongsar, etc., and is also known for his guest appearance in Shyamol Chhaya(2004), which got the award for the Best Contemporary Film in 2005 at the Sixth Bangladesh Film Festival.
In 2009, Shovon talked with The Daily Star Newspaper about usually going for supportive roles in TV dramas because his job at Best Air doesn't leave him with enough time to concentrate solely on TV plays. In 2020, he worked on Tanvir Mokammel’s film Rupsha Nodir Banke(Quiet Flows the River Rupsha), a Bangladeshi Biographical full-length film portraying some of the major highlights of the left-wing movement in the region. He played the role of Martyr Manab Ratan Mukhopadhyay, a leftist leader assassinated during the Liberation War of Bangladesh. After the shoot, he joined Ekushey Television.
In 2021, Shovon acted in two dramas -Bagan Bari and Golmal Besamal and gained popularity. He specifically got the response for playing the role 'Sundor Chairman’ in Bagan Bari. In his interview with The News Nation, the actor said, 'I am getting huge response from all, which has inspired me in a new way. For this reason, I want to be regular in acting now'. He also came into the limelight for a TV drama- Priyojon, which, according to the actor, was the turning point of his career during that time.
At present, he is working as Head of Program at Asian TV.
