Pradip Mukherjee is an Indian actor and incredible dramatist, predominantly working in Bengali movies. He was born on 11 August 1946. He did his schooling from Hare School in 1965 and graduated from City College, Kolkata in 1970, chose law and graduated from law school in 1973.

After becoming a lawyer, he barely had time to practice his acting, but he always tried and played during weekends. In 1974, he impressed the famous director Satyajit Ray while performing for Nakshatra Theater Group.
He cast Pradip in his last movie of the Calcutta trilogy, Jana Aranya. The film became a super hit and won several awards, including Karlovy Vary Prize in 1976.
