Jahor Roy was a renowned actor and comedian in Bengali cinema. He was born in Barishal district (now in Bangladesh). His father, Satya Roy, was an actor by profession. He worked in other movies such as Anjangarh (1948), Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne (1969), Dhanyee Meye (1970) and Jukti Takko Aar Gappo(1974). Roy was an active member of Rang Mahal Theatre in Kolkata. His work in Adarsha Hindu Hotel, Ulka, Subarnagolak, and Anartha is well-acclaimed. Roy passed away on 1 August 1977 in Kolkata, West Bengal.
