Divya Bharti was an Indian film actress and model, who starred in a number of commercially Telugu pictures and then migrated to Hindi cinema. Her rise to stardom was so spontaneous that, even leading ladies like Vijaya Shanthi had to compete with her in Telugu cinema. Known for her bright look and spontaneity, she was ultimate teen-age throb down south. Due to her huge popularity in Telugu cinema, many Bollywood directors made a bee-line at her doors to sign her in Hindi cinema opposite , Suuny Deol, and Govinda.

She acted opposite Chiranjeevi and in Telugu and became the most popular actress due to box-office ratings. She was so popular in Telugu film industry that even a temple was built in her name.

Divya was also considered to be one of the most beautiful actresses. After her sudden demise, many of her roles went to , Kajol and even . It is believed that she was supposed to get the leading lady role in Dilwale Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge or even Darr opposite Sharukh Khan. Later on, same roles went to Kajol and Juhi Chawla respectively.

As she moved to Bollywood from Telugu cinema, she made it a point that she will never quit Telugu film industry and work atleast in one film per year. Her role in Bobbili Raja opposite Daggubati Venkatesh, which was released in 1990 is still as one of the most popular Telugu movie even now. Her last film in Telugu was Chittamma Mogudu, that got released in 1992 with Mohan Babu and her last film in Hindi language was Kshatriya in 1993 opposite , opposite who she made her debut in Bollywood Vishwatma, directed by in 1992.

Divya was born in Mumbai to Omprakash Bharti and Meeta Bharti on February 26, 1974. She was a drop out from school but went to become a top star. She was compared with Sridevi in 1990 and became the greatest star at the time. Later on she became a Bollywood’s big star too. Her death still remains a mystery.
