Hindi Television's current darling Disha Savla Upadhyay’s journey, in fact, began with Gujarati television and theater. The effervescent actress, who light up the small screen with each of her telly presence in Neeli Chatri Wale, that is aired on Zee TV, has mesmerized everyone with her stellar presence in the show. Actress Disha Savla Upadhyay hails from Kutch, Gujarat. She made her stage debut in Gujarat and recently her career took a major turn with a role in the TV serial Neeli Chattri Wale, that was aired on Zee TV. The theater was a platform for Disha’s acting, and she landed small parts on TV and might even look forward now in films as well. Though she starred in a Gujarati serial too earlier, Neeli Chatri Wale changed her fate. People liked her in the role of Bobby in the serial. Her performance in the serial Neeli Chatri Wale drew critical and popular attention, and she took her steps to the TV map. It is believed that, she has to perform three characters in the serial. She will be doing a role of 60-year old woman, a Male Hippie and even a Sadhu Baba. She is delighted to act in male roles (Male Hippie or Sadhu Baba) and tells that her acting ability in theater enabled her to mould these characters well. Her first love has been acting always. 

She loves watching movies too. Her favourite films are Sound of Music and The Exorcist. Returning to theater roots, she had done many theater workshops in Mumbai too earlier. Disha is playing her role opposite Yahspal Sharma for the first time and the chemistry between the two leads will stand out above all else. 

Disha always dreamt of a Hindi TV break. She is overwhelmed with joy. The gamble is paying her good dividends as the actress has become a renowned name in the TV industry today.

So she experimented on theatres and several workshops in Mumbai together with few TV shows. The actress then realized the difference between theater and television; she said theater needs arduous rehearsals and there is no room for making a mistake, while the television gave her the chance for many retakes. But she feels that working on theater and Gujarati shows, molded a good foundation to take her next big step. But Disha always believes that whatever she is today is all because of theater and she will always come back to where she started. 

The actress later donned a cameo role in the crime reality series, Crime Patrol on Sony TV.
