Filmfare Awards have always been the Pinnacle of awards all over the country. The awards are considered as the highest honor an artist can get for their art. Its seen by many, both viewers and artists, as the perfect blend of class and entertainment. People across the country wait for the whole year for this award ceremony, praying for their favorite film or artist to be awarded. The same goes for artists too. But the Filmfare didn’t get this gigantic fame overnight. Since Filmfare was introduced in 1954, the award and the people working behind it have left no stone unturned to keep the sanctity of the award show alive by keeping their promise of awarding artists who truly deserve the award. The award is owned by The Times Group of India and was introduced in the northern part of the country as a way to recognize the hard-working people of the film industry.

Filmfare Awards South was started in 1964 with Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The award became the first in the world to have every title divided into several languages. So instead of giving Best Picture to just one film of one language, the award decided to contend films of each language with their respective counterparts.

The 60th Filmfare Award South was telecasted in the same fashion as its predecessors. It was held in Hyderabad on 20 July 2013 awarding the films and artists of the year 2012.
